A new grant partnership to create three short films on the Central Coast.

"I realize now that we're all only just one day away from something happening- that any of us could be in a social housing."

Two Way Street is in production in close partnership with Tiny Homes Foundation. Exploring the role social housing plays in thriving communities.

This project is engaging many levels of community. I’m working with Eva, an HSC Visual Arts student from Green Point Christian College, who is embedded in the project as part of her major work. Keep an eye out in coming months for the films.

COMMUNITY

This spring, All Things Considered was shown at Sydney Contemporary Carriageworks. Work continues to sell after the event and the response was generous, but the real value for me was seeing the project open up new conversations with a wide and curious audience. Greenway residents joined me at the show and autographed catalogues.

With longtime collaborator Cameron Baird and font maestro Dave Foster, I produced 200 limited edition printed catalogues to accompany the exhibition. Every catalogue sold, with all proceeds going to the Greenway Tenants Group, raising over $5,000.

My Gary Heery film Unfaded continues production.

In 1986, two working-class men met in a photo studio- one behind the lens, one in front of it. Both were hungry. Both were proving something to themselves. Jimmy Barnes on what he recognised in Gary Heery:

"I think it was a hunger, an honesty. Every photograph he took meant the world to him, he was trying to stamp his mark in the world, and more than anything, for both of us, it was about proving it to ourselves."

A new cycleway weaving around Milsons Point Station became something more than infrastructure.

Commissioned as a tribute to Sam and his team, the film honours the craft behind public works most people walk past and an unwavering ambition to leave something lasting in the shadow of the Harbour Bridge.

As Sam says, “It connects our team into the history and the roots of the Bridge — to be part of that legacy is a great privilege.”
